Hello, I'm Hyoung Ju Ryu, CEO of the Korea-Mekong Water Center.

The impact of climate change on water-related challenges is increasingly evident worldwide, particularly in the Mekong region. Here, persistent issues such as droughts, floods, and water quality deterioration persist due to both climate fluctuations and the management of water resources upstream and downstream.

Understanding that unilateral actions or short-term measures are insufficient to address the complexities of climate change, collaborative efforts among nations are crucial. It is through such cooperation that viable solutions can be identified and implemented.

At the Korea-Mekong Water Center, we are dedicated to tackling the water concerns within the Mekong River basin. Leveraging Korea's expertise in water management, we engage in multilateral cooperation with Mekong nations to address these pressing issues.

As a water diplomacy platform for the Mekong region, we are actively collaborating with Mekong countries and development partners to support government diplomacy. Based on our extensive collaborative network, we provide technical consultation for Mekong water issues, including water disasters, integrated water resources management, data provision, and capacity building for sustainable development of the Mekong region.

Since the inception of the Mekong-RoK relationship in 2011, Mekong-RoK cooperation has been elevated to the 2019 Mekong-RoK Summit, recognizing the importance of ties with countries in the dynamic and growing Mekong region. We will contribute to resolving water issues in the Mekong River Basin in response to the global crisis and take the lead in promoting the Mekong-RoK partnership through active exchanges and sharing of achievements with development partners in line with government policies.

I would like to ask for your interest and support in the future activities of the Korea-Mekong Water Center.

Thank you.
